Well Hi There..

Well somehow summer break is coming to an end. I always get a little anxious when times of change approach. I think that I get sentimental to have things pass, and hope that the change to come is positive...which it usually is!! I will have 2 kids in school all day...wh-AT??? I am sure I will see the perks in this in no time. We have had a very fun summer with just enough getaways to make the summer remain relaxing. We played plenty around here too. We enjoyed our 'Pass of all Passes' and I try to overlook the little things that kind of bug me at these places (Like basically everything at Trafalga....). Logan has started piano with a new teacher, and this has taught me that change can indeed be good!! He has rekindled his love for it, and I hope he keeps that going even when school starts! Paul has been super busy this summer with fun and work. He is kind of famous, for a minute. He filmed his F'real shoot, and had a blast. We will update everyone about that as long we like the outcome!! Ha ha. CJ is super excited to go to school all day and is very interested in the upgrade of getting 2 recesses! Em, she just skips around and sings all day. Littlest Miss Thing, well she is a tornado of fun..mostly. I have not done one crafty thing the whole summer, not one. It was too hot and it took everything I had to watch all four of these independent little people that were on the loose! I have lots of ideas I can't wait to do. Fun fabric that whispers my name everytime I walk by, a new picture wall to admire my babies, and 2 bedrooms that are waiting to get painted! Can't wait for Fall and all that comes with it...warm days and crisp nights...yes please! I plan on spending a little more time designing things and really expanding my knowledge on photoshop too...did you see my new banner up top??
Let's all remember to enjoy the simple're welcome.

Wednesday, June 6, 2012's summer!

I haven't blogged for like...a few weeks..or 2 months. Whatever. Suddenly the kids are out of school and it is summer! I LOVE having my kids home, but I DREAD seeing the look on their faces of "my brain is turning to mush because I watched too much tv". Not to mention they all get cranky when they are in tv land too long. Every year I have made a little outline of subjects that we learn about each week, and it has really helped give us some structure. I tailor the curriculum to each child. I saw on pinterest something about a chore punch card
( I pinned it, but never actually looked into it), but my brain came up with this version to work for my family. All I am asking of them is 15 minutes per "subject" (piano, reading, chores, homework..etc) and they have to get it passed off with a punch or sticker. Once they have gotten all of their daily punches, they are free to enjoy the day (however TV is still limited)! I think I am being very lenient. Anyway, if they get all 6 days done they get a master punch in the top BIG circle and I will offer up a reward out of the reward box (or an extra fun family activity). Here is a sample of my oldest childs card, the other kids are a little different according to their needs and hobbies. I have high hopes that this will work out! I have OODLES of printable business cards, and now I can use them up. Here's to an awesome happy kid calm mom memorable summer!! Cheers!

Nest Cake

This weekend was my honey's birthday. I made him this cute little (okay kinda big) cake! It was super easy to make and SUPER yummy to eat. I started out with 2 chocolate bundt cakes. As soon as they were cooled I flipped one over on its top (so upside down), frosted the top (for the filling)of it with homemade whipped cream and toasted coconut and then I put the other bundt cake on top...right side up. Then I frosted ( I cheated and used store bought that I whipped in my mixer and added a little extra milk and powdered sugar to make it fluffy and creamy) the entire cake, filling in the 'gap' on the sides with extra frosting (it took 2 tubs). I filled in the hole with frosting also. I had previously toasted some coconut and that is what the inside of the nest is made of. I lined the nest with pretzels and then I set my Peeps on top. I nudged some of the coconut aside so they would sit down in the nest. I picked out the blue robins eggs out of a bag and laid them around. I lined the bottom with more birdy Peeps, jelly beans, and Easter candy corn (wh-At??). It was low calorie for sure ;)

We loved how it turned out!

I am sure my handsome man loved it. Good thing he had gone on a 3 1/2 hour bike ride that morning and had some extra calories to enjoy!

ABC Book

Here are a few of my favorite shots from my little girly's ABC book.

All 4 of my kids are sick this week, and I decided to tackle some kid friendly projects while on 'house arrest'!

My kids absolutely love books all about themselves, and learning at the same time is my favorite!

I will print them and stick the pictures in a dollar store album decorated in just "her" princess (pink) style!

Thanks to photoshop and my cute little cooperative angel! Go make one for your kids, it is so fun and easy! Something they will enjoy for many years to come!
